DefenCell: Advantages
DefenCell vs Sandbags
Military sandbags provided effective force protection barricades during the Great War, WWII and Vietnam, but are cumbersome and time-consuming to fill and install compared to modern force protection solutions. DefenCell provides armed forces with an efficient alternative to sandbag barricades that can be constructed in a fraction of the time.
Instead of the labour-intensive process of filling jute or polypropylene bags, Defencell units can be filled rapidly using standard loaders in tandem with manual labour. Even the smallest DefenCell, the 3.6kg LITE, is the equivalent of 140 sandbags. The LITE can be filled in about 10-15 minutes using MHE compared to 3-4 hours with two soldiers working at 40 military sandbags per hour.
The DefenCell fabric has built in UV resistance and the non-woven composition ensures that damage from accidents, bullet holes or ballistics remains very localised. DefenCell can quickly be placed to provide ballistics protection, as well as to absorb shrapnel and blast shock waves. DefenCell features 100% nonwoven geotextile technology, making it lightweight, compact, easily deployable and durable in even the harshest environments.
